Jainer Hoyos Bermudez Bio
Jainer Hoyos Bermudez was born in Viterbo Caldas Colombia, where he began his musical studies at age 8 at Colegio Nazario Restrepo symphonic band.
He has received several awards and recognitions. In 2020 won TCU concerto competition; in 2012 Ministerio de Cultura’s competition for best interpretation of the work “Fiesta de Negritos by Lucho Bermúdez” with Crescendo ensemble (Colombia); in 2010 ClariBogotá clarinet Festival and Competition 1st prize; 2009 Young Musician Award of Luis Angel Arango Library, Banco de la Republica; Antonio Nariño Medal of Merit (leaders by Cundinamarca) Congress of the Republic of Colombia; 2008 concerto competition, Universidad Nacional de Colombia; 2006 8th City of Bogotá Performance Competition for Clarinet players, youth division, Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra.
Mr. Hoyos has given recitals in the major cities of Colombia, and participated in master classes with Donald Montanaro, Wenzel Fuchs, Philippe Berrod, Joaquin Valdepeñas, Paquito D’Rivera, Ivan Stolbov among others.
He received his bachelor’s degree in 2011 from Universidad Nacional de Colombia under the guidance of maestro Robert De Gennaro. Mr. Hoyos is currently pursuing his DMA at Texas Christian University with Dr. Corey Mackey.
