Jag Band Update 7/24/22

Hello Jag Band!

T’was the night before Band Camp and all through the house, Summit band members were HYDRATING AND HYDRATING AND HYDRATING AND HYDRATING …I was always bad at rhymes. Check out some information below.

Parent meeting slides
Thank you to all who were able to make it to the Parent meeting this past Thursday – attendance was fantastic and we had to pull out more chairs – which was a good problem to have. If you were not able to make it, we shared a quick google slides presentation which included teacher introductions, camp dates, booster information, and a look into our show “The Circles Edge”. You can see it here:
Parents who couldn’t make it – please consider volunteering in some way, even if it’s baking a dozen cupcakes if we need them 🙂
Thank you percussion/guard/leadership
We had a wonderful (half) week getting to know each other and learn from one another. I just wanted to thank all the guard, drumline, and leadership students who sacrificed a little more time out of their summer to ensure the excellence of the Summit Band program propels forward. I can wholeheartedly say that these are some of the best student leaders I have worked with in my career.
Physicals
If you have already received your physical, bring in the forms and turn it into the basket found outside the office. Remember, we cannot have physicals that are older than one year on file.
Hydrate – no more big water jugs
Because the boosters will be providing us with new water jugs, I do not plan to use the big water jugs when we go outside. Please bring enough water to keep you happy and healthy!
Attendance
Band Camp is Mandatory. However, emergencies happen. If you have an emergency, please have your parents go to www.summitband.com, click on attendance, and submit the attendance form.
WiddyUP
This fundraiser launched at the end of the week. Have 20 phone number/emails of family, community members, and friends that can donate to your cause in a note on your phone. Our goal will be $20,000, but I bet we can smash that.
Plan for tomorrow/ the week

SET YOUR ALARMS NOW because band camp starts at a generous 7:00am
7:00-8:30 – All in Band Hall 1: Take care of all the formalities and administrative stuff to start the year. This is on day 1 only, all other days will meet on the grid at 7:00am

8:30-10:00 – “Outdoor” Visual Zones: Winds to the grid, Front Ensemble in Band Hall 2, Battery to grid and/or Dance Room, Guard in Band Hall 1

10:00-12:00 – “Indoor” Visual Zones: Winds move to PE gym for across the floors/ body basics. Everyone else stays put.

12:00-1:30 – Lunch: If your parents allow you, you may leave campus for lunch. Please make wise nutritional choices. Veteran members ensure that no one eats alone, and please, no food in any part of the school that has carpet. The cafeteria will be off limits Monday-Wednesday, but I will look to see if we can use the Jag Room to eat.

1:30-3:45 – Music Zones: Brass in Conference Room, Woodwinds in Choir Room, Front Ensemble in Band Hall 2, Battery in Dance Room/other room, Guard in Band Hall 1

3:45-4:00 – All in Band Hall 1: Wrap up meeting
