Jag Band Update 2/26/23

Hello Jaguar Band,

We’re looking forward to a positive, successful week as put on the Jazz Dinner Dance, and make a big push musically into spring break. With the small ensemble project completed, it’s time to start increasing the focus on our UIL program by starting sectionals, listening to quality recordings of the pieces, and practicing our parts to perfection, as well as beginning to select solos for our May solo contest. Here is this week’s update:

Small Ensemble Concert
Last Tuesday
Great job to everyone who performed, and thank you to all the parents, guardians, friends and family who attended!
MISD HS Ensemble Contest
Last Friday
Overall, a very positive day. All the students Ms. Hermanson and I spoke to after their performance had a really positive interaction with their judge, and the judges really liked working with our students. It takes a lot of work to host an event for the entire district, but we pulled it off. Students and parents who helped set up, sell snacks, watch the front door, and tear down, THANK YOU!
Guard Contest at Wylie East HS
Yesterday (Saturday)
Y’all… you NEED to see these students perform if you haven’t already. The next contest is right down the street at Martin HS so no excuses! 😅 The amount of growth these students had in just a couple weeks compared to their first show is phenomenal! JV came in 3rd in their division, only about a point and a half behind first, and Varsity came in 1st place in their division beating 2nd place by over four points which lead to the Varsity group getting promoted to the next division up. Great things are happing in guard land!
