Jag Band Update 3/26/23
Hello Jaguar Band,
It’s Pre-UIL week and we couldn’t be more excited to share the music we’ve been working on since January! Can’t wait to see you either at the CPA this week, the Arlington CVPA in a couple weeks, and/or our Spring Concert 🙂
Solo Contest April 29th
It’s also solo season! Parents, the students in the Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony must perform a solo at the MISD Solo contest on April 29th held at Timberview HS. If your student has a solo with piano accompaniment, they will need to pay for an accompanist. The lessons teachers should have supplied a solo to the students. If your student is not in lessons (they should be in lessons), they will need find their own solo. I encourage them to ask their section leader and/or other section mates about solos that might work for them. Accompanist information was sent to the students this past week. The cost of accompaniment will be around $60 which includes a couple of lessons with their accompanist and the performance. More info here: https://band.us/band/87857392/post/360
Uniform prep
If uniforms are not back in the band hall from cleaning, please bring them tomorrow. If you/your student would like to keep the blue skirt and/or hat wrap from this year, it needs to be taken from their uniform bag tomorrow. All others will be inventoried and sold to make some money back to the program and reduce next year’s uniform fee.

🎉Celebrations🎉
Leadership Workshops (this past Monday and Wednesday)
The past two workshops had about 40 students in attendance which means about 50% of the returning band members are looking for a leadership role within the band! That is incredible. I want to commend these students who want to step up and make a difference!
JV Winter Guard (this past Saturday)
WOW! Yesterday was a wonderful day to be a Jaguar. Let me give a little context about this color guard show. It was the final competition for the JV guard. There was a total of 51 color guards in our division that competed which were split into four groups. Not only did our Summit JV Winter Guard come in FIRST PLACE by about 3 points against their group, but out of the 51 guards performing, they placed SECOND. They are the Silver medalists out of ALL OF THE NTCA CIRCUIT. Way to go JV Winter Guard! Thank you also to our floor crew who consisted of the Varsity Winter Guard along with Jaiydlin, Alex, Kamryn, Carlos, Morriah, Sarah, Maya, Erick, and Victoria (I think I got you all)

Please join us for a celebration of all things Mansfield color guard. Admission is Free, and this is a terrific way for you to check out not only our color guards, but all the guards in MISD! Let us have the most people in the stands cheering on our hard working, talented kiddos!

This is a concert where we’re bringing out a recording engineer to do a professional recording of our UIL Music. The rules state we’re allowed to record up to 4 times for submission, currently the plan is to record three times. We’ll record UIL, this concert on the 25th, and then our spring concert on May 3rd. Mark your calendar!
