Presenting their 2023 program: The 13th Floor! (announced last Monday)
It’s official, the Summit Band is taking on a new approach with our new show designer Casey Snead with a production that will have the entire audience going, “now that was cool!” Click the link below to access the video reveal trailer, and some examples of the music: 2023 Show Reveal Presentation

Congratulations to our 2023 leadership team! (announced last Monday)
New directors mean a new approach to student leadership in the band. There were a lot of tough decisions that went into creating this new hierarchy and a lot of tough conversations we had with the students. Regardless, I can’t wait to see these fine young people take a servant-leader style of ownership over their role and shape it into the best it can be.
The Upper Leadership team (in blue) is commonly called a “band council” in other programs. These are the students who take the most ownership in the band program with weekly meetings, and discussions, going over and potentially re-writing handbook policies for the coming year(s), and giving the directors a pulse on what is going on in the band. Think of these students as the “senators” of the band”
The Lower Leadership team (in gray) has specific roles that they are in charge of and get support from the Upper Leadership Team if needed. Think of these students as the “congress” of the band who represent their section.

Honor Band Recording (Last Tuesday)
Words can’t describe how proud I am of the Wind Symphony and their work on this challenging program. Their work speaks for themselves. The have been entered in both the TMEA Honor Band process, and the National Wind Band Honors competition. Results will be out in the summer months. Enjoy these recordings:
Finale to Symphony no. 4 – Tchaikovsky: Summit HS 2023_04_25-3.wav
A Movement for Rosa – Camphouse: Summit HS 2023_04_25-2.wav
The Gum-Suckers March – Grainger: Summit HS 2023_04_25-4.wav
Round 1 of 2023 Color Guard Auditions are complete!
Congratulations to everyone who made the team! Can’t wait to see you bring “The 13th Floor” to life on the field! Our administration is working with the Howard Middle School administration to allow the colorguard access to all the PE classes to perform for them and see if we can drum up some interest! Exciting times!

MISD Solo Contest (yesterday)
56 Division 1 ratings were given out to Summit High School yesterday at the Solo Contest at Timberview! WOW! Congratulations to everyone who took part and represented Summit with musical excellence!
