Jag Band Update 4/9/23
Hey Jags,
It’s UIL week, Spring Show week, the week before leadership interviews, and just a couple of weeks before the solo contest! Rides should be worked out by our Wind Symphony students with that 6:30am call time on Friday. Accompanists should be procured for both our Wind Symphony and Wind Ensemble students for the solo contest, and instruments should have stayed warm all weekend from putting on those final touches for UIL. If one or more of those things are not true for you, you need to stay on top of it!

Howard Honors Band Sweepstakes (this past Thursday)
Congratulations to Mr. Thompson, Mr. Black, Ms. Martinez, and the T. A. Howard Honors Band on their “sweepstakes” performance at UIL! They received straight 1s both on stage and in sight reading. Way to go future Jags!

Color Guard Spring Show – 4/14/23 – 6:00pm
Summit HS – $5 admission – PE Gym

See our color guard’s final run of their shows, small ensembles, solos, and more! We’ll be selling burgers, hot dogs, and snacks. Make it a family affair and come support the GOLD MEDALIST guards! Due to the overwhelming number of small ensembles and solos, we’re starting at 6:00! This should be a FANTASTIC EVENT.

Come see our talented percussion students in a standalone concert on April 20th in our PAC. You’ll hear solos, small ensembles, large ensembles, and a whole lot of hard work that got put into this. See you there!

Solo Contest April 29th
Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony students should have a solo picked, accompanist lined up, and payment for said accompanist all figured out at this point. Students must fill out this google form found on the BAND app, otherwise, they will not be registered for the contest. https://band.us/band/87857392/post/360 Parents should be informed of the approx. $60 cost to the accompanist if the solo has accompaniment.

We can now pay band fees online. Just visit the website www.summitband.com click on parents > Jaguar Band Payments and either scan or click the QR code, add 4% to your total using the calculator link, enter in your card information and boom – payment made. Let’s work to chip this down every week. We can’t run a successful program unless everyone does their part and fees are paid up. 🙂
We have approximately $30,000 of band fees that need to be paid (lower than last week, YAY!)
Final payment of the $140 for Activity Fee 2 is due May 5th.
